Everyday this week I've become s-l-o-w-l-y awake to a cardinal singing. About the third time through its song, before I've got my eyes open, but after it has made me smile, the alarm clock buzzes. If I sit up, the bird leaves to serenade a different condo's residents down the fence line. If I hit the snooze, the bird stays and sings a bit longer until it's job is done and I face the day.

That's one smart cardinal. Any relief in sight for the horrid heat there?
This morning the alarm rang at six, and I hit the snooze in disgust. At 6:02 I could hear a cardinal at some distance. It arrived very soon and sang until 6:09. I hit the snooze again. The cardinal left in disgust.
